Anstey & Bull (2006) define a multiliterate individual as someone who “is flexible and strategic and can understand and use literacy and literate practices with a range of texts and technologies; in socially responsible ways; in a socially, culturally, and linguistically diverse world; and to fully participate in life as an active and informed citizen” (Bull & Anstey, 2007, p. 55). In order to create a world of multiliterate individuals, who are capable of contributing to the many facets of life in 21st century, literacy educators need to move beyond monomodal instruction and assignments, and need to think about how digital tools, and texts can help students be best prepared for the future. |
